GLU and Munnade, celebrated the women’s day in a very meaningful and thematic way. Mangalore is famous for its beautiful beaches. In recent times, it has also become infamous for its moral policing, which is predominantly influenced by its strong patriarchal society. To strongly communicate that women are not victims or targets in order to satisfy the evil wishes of the society, the women’s day celebration was conducted for three days in Mangalore. This was conducted by a network of Women’s Groups, NGOs, Trade Unions, Journalists, writers and individuals. The program was conducted under a common banner ‘Women’s Organisation’s Net’.
On these days 5 garment workers and 5 activists from Munnade/GLU participated. The programme was a big success and in the context of the above situation, this was a historical event.
