As part of the international women’s day celebration, Garment Labour Union (GLU) had organised a silent protest – ‘Women in Black’ at Mereena Creation Circle, Peenya on 09 March 2021. Women garment workers from Peenya, were part of the protest.
Mrs. Rukmini VP, President and Mrs. Saroja, General Secretary of GLU addressed the gathering.
Some of the demands put forth by the union members to the government were:
1. Stop Gender based Violence (GBV) at workplace
2. Ratify International Labour Organisation (ILO) C-190
3. Increase wages of garment workers
